Proposed New Addition
Services Provided: Design New Addition and Create Permit Level Construction Drawings
For this particular project, we were contracted by the building contractor. The owners of the funeral home wanted to expand the main room where that wakes were held because they felt it was too small. This would have represented the third or fourth addition in approximately 80 – 100 years. Lot space and interior floor space was at a premium and special considerations needed to be addressed for the town before construction could begin. This required a site plan for variance application along with preliminary plans and elevations for review. One of the biggest concerns that the owners wanted addresses is that they did not want this addition to look out of place. That is why I chose to add a railing around a few of the edges to make it look like there might have been an out door balcony or garden up on the roof. After all, it is not uncommon for a home with that type of look to have a conservatory or balcony attached to it.
