Hardware Store
Services Provided: This project was another in a long line of many. In this particular case, the store owners needed to expand their retail and warehouse space. There had been other drawings created by other organizations, but they were far from what turned out to be the end result. The overview of the work was simple, renovate the exterior of the store and add a two story addition to the rear. It became far more complex than that. What you see as a before was actually an after, thirty years ago. The original building resided in the right rear two thirds of the building. In addition to that, the blizzard of 1978 caused some structural damage in the roof of the metal building. Now, the roof framing elements were repaired, but they were a hindrance to the new renovation work to be performed in 2001. After the fist round of construction drawings, there were several modifications that had to be done in order to remain under budget while still attempting to overcome these little surprises inherent in dealing with existing (and old) buildings. The project was finally completed to the delight of the shop owners and the look rang in a new era of business for Barrows Hardware.
